The Nāgānanda International Institute for Buddhist Studies (NIIBS) celebrated the awarding of diplomas and certificates for its recently conducted Diploma and Certificate programs. The event took place on December 6, 2024, at the Main Auditorium of the NIIBS, Manelwatta, Kelaniya. It was presided over by the Vice Chancellor, Most Venerable Dr. Bodagama Chandima Nayaka Thero, and Mrs. Chandima Janaki, Additional Secretary (Non-State Higher Education Division) of the Ministry of Education, Technology, and Science.
Distinguished guests included Her Excellency (Ms.) Trinh Thi Tam, Ambassador of Vietnam to Sri Lanka, and several eminent personalities such as:
- Venerable Dr. Dampe Vijitharathana Thero, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Dean of the Faculty of Buddhist Studies.
- Eng. Chamath De Silva, Chief Executive Officer of NIIBS.
- Prof. Asanga Tilakaratne, Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
- Prof. P. B. Mandawala, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
- Prof. Rangamini Werawatta, Director of the School of Information and Communication Technology.
- Mr. Piyaratne Ranasinghe Arachchi, Registrar of NIIBS.
The ceremony also recognized faculty and staff members who have served NIIBS for over five years. The event featured cultural performances by the students of Sapugaskanda Maha Vidyalaya, showcasing their talents in music and dance.
NIIBS, currently offering 10 undergraduate programs and 46 internationally recognized courses, continues to empower students with a high-quality education. The Examination Division organized the ceremony with meticulous planning to ensure its success.
