NIBS Academic Journal

The Manelwatta, Nāgānanda International Institute for Buddhist Studies was established with the noble intention of reviving the essence of a university akin to the ancient Nalanda. This esteemed institution places high value on the realm of Buddhist Studies.

Our current aspiration is to elevate the status of Nāgānanda International Institute for Buddhist Studies as the leading center for learning Buddhist Studies through dedicated research endeavors. It is evident that engaging in academic pursuits is crucial in realizing this vision.

In line with this commitment, the Faculty of Buddhist Studies has launched the Nāgānanda International Buddhist Studies Journal (NIBS Academic Journal) as its inaugural academic publication. Such initiatives deserve immense appreciation and deserve to be further nurtured, recognizing the pivotal role of research in the field of Buddhist Studies. It is imperative to underscore the significance of delving into the origins of Buddhist culture and understanding the relevance of applying Buddhist principles within the context of contemporary global trends.

Our heartfelt gratitude extends to everyone who supported our first academic publication. We’d like to thank Dr. Dilshan Manoj Rajapaksa, the journal advisor, for his unwavering dedication to ensuring the success of the annual academic journal. Special thanks are also extended to Reverend Sooriyawewa Sumedha Thero and Mr. Sampath Suranga Jayasinghe, the esteemed editors. Furthermore, our sincere appreciation goes out to all the contributors to scholarly articles and the entire Faculty of Buddhist Studies.
