Sathimagga Meditation Training Program

“Sathimagga Meditation Training Program” Conducted by the Faculty of Buddhist Studies at Nāgānanda International Institute for Buddhist Studies (NIIBS).

Nāgānanda International Institute for Buddhist Studies (NIIBS) has been conducting a series of daily meditation training programs for the past two years. The primary objective of this initiative is to create a conducive environment for individuals to lead happier lives through the practice of Buddhist meditation.

Open to individuals of all ages, the program is rooted in the teachings of the Tripitaka and is facilitated by esteemed monks with extensive expertise in meditation. The program aims to help participants overcome sorrow and achieve spiritual liberation, thereby leading a peaceful and contented life. One of the distinctive features of the “Sathimagga Meditation Training Program” is that all necessary facilities are provided free of charge by the university, ensuring a setting free from external distractions. In addition to sessions held on the university premises, monthly meditation programs are also conducted at the Imbulgoda Mihindu Aranya Senasana and the Bandaragama Vidagama Dharmachakra Children’s Foundation.

This program operates under the guidance of Ven. Dr. Bodagama Chandima Thero, Vice-Chancellor of Nāgānanda International Institute for Buddhist Studies (NIIBS), and is coordinated by Dr. Hasantha Samarasinghe. The initiative was conceptualized by Ven. Pasgoda Sumitta Thero and reflects the university’s commitment to promoting spiritual well-being.
